A Girl and Her Horse in Bridgehampton by Nina Drapacz Photography

I traveled to the Hamptons to photograph this gorgeous girl whom I have photographed since she was 2 years old. The goal of the session was headshots at the stable and then some images with the horses. It was scheduled the last day before she got braces so no time to redo… We started with the her with the horse, a mistake. The horse stepped on her toe as she led him out to the area we decided would be the best backdrop. The shoot was over after these images and just a handful more! It was too painful to continue and the toe expanded and throbbed for days!

I went to a studio sale in Brooklyn for MONDAYS, wonderful organic formed ceramics, and stumbled into the studio of Jane D’Arensbourg. I was dazzled by her huge aray of handmade unique jewelry. Left with some rings and returned a few weeks later to photograph the artist in her studio working.

Big goals for one session. Actor headshots, modeling headshots and athlectic modeling headshots. Clothing choices: three t shirts and a hoodie not intendrd to use...turns out to be the best images came from that hoodie. 

Leon was amazing from the start but initially put on his "posing face", which was great but lacked personality. We talked a bit and he became more at ease. I tried to trigger him to give something more. Every 40 or so images we stopped to see what we were getting and taking it from there. Collaboration is EVERYTHING! I chose to show my personal favorites, chuck full of "Leon" for acting, modeling etc. We were both very pleased with the diversity and the range of personality and expression!

In the world of internet, visual presentation is critical. A great headshot can create an element of trust. I've been photographing these amazing obstetricians for over a decade. Each year they change their website photos to keep current. We all have such a great time and each year we try a different location. This year the office and Mt. Sinai inside and out plus a favorite coffee cart. The practice is like a big happy family!

Magazine Portrait Photography for ASRT by Nina Drapacz Photography

When I was approached to shoot the cover of the magazine, ASRT Scanner, a medical periodical, I was thrilled to be chosen. The assignment involved photographing a radiation therapist, who was being recognized for his 25 years of experience, in an actual radiation room at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.  I brought the entire studio to MSK and set up. In walks Charles, his contagious smile and bow tie instantly put me at ease! When the lighting and angle were perfect we began and continued with several other background settings.  A person who works with photo sessions from MSK was there to assist me and surprised me by taking her own photos of our session! It was a great photo shoot and I look forward to more.

Its been seasonally warm this winter, so far. This family reunion was after Christmas and the weather was perfect for this Harlem outdoor photoshoot! The family was so much fun, some visiting from Australia. Laden with multi outfit changes for the cousins and tons of interchangeable bright hats, we were set for the fun!

She showed up with a small suitcase, a fresh blow out and no make up. She didn't need any! Just a dab of lip gloss and some of my bronzer on her eyes and we were set to go with at least a dozen outfits, great music and her doting dad.

This mom never ages! She's stunning! I have photographed Erica and her beautiful family for years. She contacted me for a new headshot for an upcoming talk show position which is very exciting! We used her own environment and natural soft window light. Of course we needed hubby and her babies, Ricky and Lucy, to make the session complete!

28 children ranging from 18 months to 4 years with a 3 hour time limit! I managed to get each and every one smiling! Whew! Parents have many many choices which is a good thing! I was lucky to have an fantastic assistant this summer who works at the camp who helped me make the children feel comfortable and coax smiles. Capturing siblings- a bonus!
