Pets are an integral part of the family, many times, the "first child". While the session can be more challenging with pets, it is by far worth the challenge! The animals sometimes become the stars of the photo shoots.....This small series were taken over two years in Tuxedo, New York.
Some solace by weeks end. With all the shock of the week, it was comforting to experience nature in NYC as its finest.
I've photographed in the Hamptons all summer and finally got the chance to photograph a family in Fire Island! Its a completely different scene there. No cars, just simply wagons and bikes with a tiny grocery store and a single restaurant in the adjacent town. Super rustic and very cozy! The real beauty for children is the independence they get from being able to go places safely without parents hovering....
These children, my seventh year photographing them, were never this excited! I heard from each one all about their treks alone to the next town on their bikes! And what would a beach experience be like without a newly captured hermit crab?!
It was a super hot and humid day but lucky for us, cloudy! The only way to successfully shoot on the beach is either all clouds or very late day sun, which isn't always the best time for young subjects. Its hard to tell how hot it was that afternoon by these images, the family was gorgeous, cool and collect. The best part was how they wanted the images to be interactive and not posed. This gave everyone a lot of freedom to have fun! My favorite part was the creative license this afforded me to truly capture the spirit of the family in a unique way.
Her older brother is among my favorite subjects with his enormous smiles and playful personality. He now has some competition! She has a huge range of expressions and she's beautiful! To see them together is magical!
Now is the time, the cherry blossoms are luscious for about another 10 days and those bright colorful tulips have limited time ....Outdoor backdrops are at their all time beauty!
Recipe for a successful newborn photo shoot: One sleeping newborn, two sibs and a baby grand piano....Baby number three for this growing family and another son no less! The boys are loving and fascinated with the new bundle of joy. I feel like it was yesterday that I photographed the middle one, Jake, also a day before his Bris. 
I found a few more favorites from this newborn session as I was meeting with the mom to go through the images together. House calls are an integral part of the process. When I post galleries of over 300 images to choose from its much easier to narrow down the best when I swing by with my laptop loaded with Adobe Photoshop. This program allows us to place similar images side by side to compare details as well as toggle back and forth in Camera Raw with a magnification tool to see minute details.
The look of joy on a mom's face as she looks at her new baby and look of curiously on a toddler's face when he observes his new baby sister . We were able to capture lots of winning images, although we couldn't replicate the one of her brother on a black reflective table sleeping. She was awake the entire session as well as an additional session!! 
In the age of the Smartphone, one may be hard pressed to "splurge" on a professional image for work websites, social media, corporate images, LinkedIn , singles websites.....
A professional image that captures personality and concentrates on looking great can be the key to success in reaching your goals. Its well worth it. Professional photographers not only know the secret to good lighting, they have a trained eye to look beyond the smile to represent who you are at your best!
Toddlers- they are spontaneous, silly, independent, fearless and in this case very flirtatious! As our session came to an end this adorable little boy, who was so intent on running and reading, came across a woman, whom he couldn't take his eyes off! He was mesmerized and very excited! So macho! Sooo cute! What a beautiful sister, so patient and loving!
I have been photographing this new big brother since he was 4 months old. The way he stared in amazement at his baby sister, just a week old, when she was placed in his lap! Priceless! A new baby and a winner Halloween costume, life is good!
She and her mom came with a small suitcase of clothing- all perfect choices! She was such a delight. She was excited to be photographed, which is a gift to a photographer. Her energetic fun personality allowed me to capture wonderful moments throughout the entire shoot.

Last week of August and the last minutes of warm glowing sunlight..tweens are the best! They love to be photographed! This young grandmother was a lovely lively addition to this perfect photo shoot!
I love seeing the dynamics of siblings. These two brothers were great! Whatever and however silly the older brother was being the little one, just three, tried to emulate even if it meant climbing to the highest rock!
The very end of August around 7pm.....it started with awesome warm orange light then a magical sky after the sunset. The girls could have kept going all night! Tweens are great! While the parents were under the impression that the light would not be as good this late, it happens to be the BEST light.
Fun fall weekend shoot with these sibs at the gardens. What a gorgeous place to photograph - its best at 9:30 am or on an overcast day. 
I first photographed these sisters at the BSTC camp the previous year. I had the special privilege of photographing them this summer on their own turf. Loved the woodsy setting!
Pregnant women glow! Such a short time in a woman's life as her body changes to accommodate baby, a time to capture with memorable images! I've been photographing this beautiful boy since he was 4 months old. Soon to be a big brother.
