Maternity Session in the Hamptons by Nina Drapacz

The photographer in Aruba called them after they returned home to let them know her memory card was corrupt and she lost all the images from their maternity session on the beach. We needed a beach asap and it was 45 degrees! She said she wanted to do it in the cold and even wear a bikini at the end!

I was dressed in my warmest sweater, a long down coat and a hat. Hubby was bundled as well. We went to work right away! Lots of wind and three outfits changes later… these images! We had the beach to ourselves and no one looked cold!

We were all set, lots of outfits, a special goldendoodle brother to be and gorgeous parents to be…. Dad was proud of his sympathetic weight gain which seems to be on par with mom’s. They were so relaxed and we all had a blast, especailly the puppy! To make the session easy, we took the SUV onto the beach for easy access to clothing and a place to change. Two hours later after this amazing session, we found that we couldn’t get out! Stuck in the sand for quite awhile until help arrived!

It’s an honor to be able to be there to bear witness to these precious moments. I find myself comforting and reassuring parents and easing some siblings into acceptance.

Of course future siblings play an important role and assume the shoot is for them, but with a little coaxing....everyone gets camera time!

The look of joy on a mom's face as she looks at her new baby and look of curiously on a toddler's face when he observes his new baby sister . We were able to capture lots of winning images, although we couldn't replicate the one of her brother on a black reflective table sleeping. She was awake the entire session as well as an additional session!!

I photographed this gorgeous mom when she was 8 months pregnant with her second beautiful boy. The baby is two weeks old and his big brother is enamored! I love the look on his face when the baby is close or better yet, in his arms!

The LAST warm day this winter! I was able to squeeze this shoot in in December. It was over 60 degrees! It started out rough, light was fading and big brother wasn't thrilled sharing the spotlight with his baby brother. With lots of patience and persistence, a success!

Westside girl comes to the upper east side for a fun photo shoot with Nina Drapacz Photography!

Her mom picked her up from school and came straight to the park. It was unseasonably warm, luckily, and she had a blast! Apparently this is her first formal photo shoot. Seven is a wonderful age! Between jumping on a thin stairwell banister, doing back bends and hugging a tree to name a few stints, she didn't want to our session to end. The perfect subject!

My second year with this family. The baby, now a toddler was able to run around and boy did he run! The wonderful thing about late afternoon light, we could go anywhere without fear of bright sunlight, perfect for a trailing a two year old on the go!

While I have photographed many birthday parties at the Sunningdale Country Club in Westchester, this was the first Bat Mitzvah I had done there. The room for the ceremony was perfectly set up and the space was wonderful for this kind of celebration! It was a cold rainy day and eventually the sun came out affording me the chance to photograph both indoors and outdoors. It was special to be able to photograph the actual ceremony with available light.

Tweens are the years right before teens, so about 9 to 12 years. Its a time in a child life that marks the last of the innocence and the impatience to independence. Many of the tweens I photograph are children I had been photographing since they were babies. I had the pleasure of seeing them grow up which is special.

Tribeca Family Photo Shoot by Nina Drapacz Photography!

I had a special request to meet and photograph a family in Tribeca as they were moving to the suburbs and wanted to document their family in the neighborhood they had lived for many years. We walked to a street where, apparently, many photographers use for all kinds of photo shoots. It was incredible! There was a man with an easel there painting, very European AND very New York in every way... I asked them to set the baby down on the dirty hard concrete, they willingly agreed- and out came these images! In one of the images, the baby's expression seems to be saying, "W hat? My parents just put me down alone on this hard dirty floor???!"

As I was listening to a grandmother's anticipation of the impending birth of her first grandchild, in comes her neighbor with a gorgeous newborn girl -what a beautiful little baby! I had just my phone on me, no business cards I thought but luckily I had one card tucked inside my phone case and viola-

I had the opportunity to photograph this little gem the next day! She slept for just a few minutes, but enough time to capture exactly what her parents and I wanted!

I love photographing babies and children who live in the same building- so easy to commute to work!

Baby in a Tree- Summer Outdoor Portraits by Nina Drapacz Photography

I photographed this cute little baby as a newborn. He made the business card! Months later we met up with mom and dad in Carl Schurz Park in Manhattan. Dad was had no qualms about setting down the baby on concrete, grass and even prop him up in a tree! He was right behind him so it was "ok" with mom. I think maybe I was the most nervous!
